Strategic digital alerts help students act on crucial deadlines and reduce administrative barriers.
Nudges must be personalized and considerate of students’ real-life challenges to stay effective.
Digital nudges work best alongside advising, financial, and emotional supports.

Colleges are increasingly deploying targeted text interventions, alerts, chatbots and other digital prompts to guide students toward timely tasks (e.g., enrollment, fee payment, tutoring) and enhance retention. These systems rely on student data to identify who might be off‐track and then deliver messages at strategic moments.
